Yard sale, jumble sale, flea market… whatever you want to call it, everyone loves one!
Getting rid of unwanted jumble, reducing what goes into landfill, and maybe even picking up a hidden treasure or two, is one of life’s great pleasures. It can also be a great opportunity to have a natter with local residents and neighbours, and get to know your community that little bit better. Who knows, you could even make a bob or two by offloading your knick knacks!
So we were delighted to hear of plans afoot to launch a community-wide yard sale in NR2 later this year. Residents of Havelock Road have been holding their own local yard sale for the last three years, with great success. Now they’re interested to hear thoughts and ideas from local community groups and residents on how to organise an even bigger event.
Sound good? If you’d like to get involved, pop along to the The Mitre for a drink and a chat on March 29th, from 7.30pm until 9pm. More on the event here.
In the meantime, check out Havelock Road’s other amazing local community project – the Little Free Library.
